This week in Krabi

This is where we post all our latest projects both underwater and above. It may be a wedding video, a trailer we are involved in, a recent underwater shoot, or just some photos or an article.

The turtles

Hawkesbill Turtles are critically endangered throughout the world.

Here on Phi Phi we are lucky enough to have a healthy population though it's debatable that they will last as their nesting grounds slowly disappear under the wave of tourist development.

There is only a handful of nesting females left. The below photograph was taken at Koh Sii. This is what happens when illegally cast nets get snagged then left behind on reefs!

Hawkesbill Turtles, (Eretmochelys imbricata,) are found on all the dive sites around Phi Phi, but most commonly seen to the north of Maya Bay

Often found feeding on their favorite food - Bubble Coral, these gentle, slow-moving creatures are easily approached and are well-accustomed to divers. Although the temptation is great, divers should avoid touching them, as it invariably results in spooking them, hence spoiling it for other divers.
